SLOTW #113

subject line of the week

When you assume you lose. Stop making assumption about what “works”. Join us each week as we share with you our winning email subject lines, what worked and why they worked.

Welcome Mavericks,

If you’re marketing products or services you’ve probably heard that “storytelling” is one of the BEST ways to market any product or service and it is.

BUT there is a right way to do it that will ensure that your email subject line ties to your content, because when it DOESN’T your inviting trouble.

Deceptive subject lines are the #1 reason why people hit spam or unsub.

Audiences hate being dupped. Now don’t confuse deception with being creative and clever.

Deception is referencing one thing in a subject line but your content is unrelated vs being creative.

Where you lead with curiosity and USE that curiosity to tell a story (while selling a product), this is how you “tie it together” make sense?

Which takes to SLOTW #113

  • I Walked Away From a Fortune – here’s why..
  • I Walked Away From Love – here’s why..

ProTips

Now the trick to making this work is two fold since what drives the curiosity is broken up in 2 parts.

  • Part 1- What did you give up, what did you walk away from, what BIG decision did you take?
  • Part 2- here’s why …

Remember what makes a story interesting is the “struggle” just try to avoid DRAGGING a story along. Keep it short and to the point.

I often tell the story about  walking away from a million-dollar agency deal because NO amount of millions could buy my happiness.

So I walked away from a fortune and never looked back.

That’s how simple it is to relate and tie a subject line to your content and then go into your benefits pitch/sale.

So what do you think mavericks, have you tried this subject line before, or better yet .. do you want to use it but are struggling to find a way to make it work for you?

If so hit reply to this email and tell me what your product or service is and let’s see how creative we can get.

Until next week ABE & be happy
